ATLANTIC Swimming Pools of Bahrain reports that business this year has been on the upswing, despite the global economic downturn.

Established in 2003, Atlantic Swimming Pools specialises in the design, construction, maintenance and landscaping of swimming pools, as well as children’s pools, Jacuzzis, saunas and steam rooms.
“Business levels were average in 2008, but this year has been better than the last,” says managing director Abdul Rahman Al Kooheji.
He continues: “We expect business to pick up further over the coming years as there are several projects in the pipeline.”
Towards this end, the company has opened a new cleaning and servicing division for swimming pools. It has also opened a branch office in Saudi Arabia, to tap into the market potential in the neighbouring kingdom, he says.
Atlantic Swimming Pools boasts a global portfolio of products from companies of repute such as Hayward (pool products) of the US, Foshan (tiles) of China, Ezzari (tiles) of Spain, Kolorines (tiles) of Mexico, Bin Taleb (pool products) of Saudi Arabia  and Mapei (sealants and adhesives) of Italy.
“Our customers, include individuals, contractors and consultants,” comments Al Kooheji.  
The company was recently busy with a 25-pool project for Kaza Construction at Saar in Bahrain, at a contract value of  BD100,000 ($265,000). Other significant projects it has undertaken in Bahrain include 22 pools for Kooheji Contractors in Juffair at a value of BD85,000 ($225,500) in 2006, and 10 pools for Kooheji Contractors in Hidd, at a cost of  BD55,000 ($145,000) in 2007. This year, the company has also launched several new products on the market from Maipei, including Keraposy Design, a epoxy mortar; Ultracolor Plus, a grout; and Mapesil AC silicone sealant.
Atlantic currently operates with 35 staff out of its head office in Sitra.
