
ALFANAR Construction has won contracts worth SR363 million ($97 million) for the construction of substations at Jizan Economic City and King Abdul Aziz Medical City in Saudi Arabia.
The contracts include construction of a 380/132/13.8-kV substation for Jizan Economic City, and a 132/13.8 kV substation for the National Guard at the King Abdul Aziz Medical City.
Power for the Jizan substation will be supplied through 380-kV double--circuit overhead transmission lines from Shuqaiq IWPP’s (independent power and water project) 380-kV substation and the Kudmi 380-kV substation.
The completion period for the contract, valued at SR254 million ($67.7 million), is 24 months.
The 132/13.8-kV substation at the King Abdul Aziz Medical City comes as part of the National Guard’s plan to further enhance the power supply to the medical city.
The contract includes the laying of 132-kV power and fibre optic cable circuits for a value of SR109.9 million ($29.07 million). The completion period is 16 months.
Alfanar Construction is executing several key projects for various clients valued at more than SR5 billion ($1.3 billion) in different parts of the kingdom for the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) and other utility companies.
These include contracts for a 380-kV substation at Hiteen worth SR500 million ($133.3 million), a 380-kV substation project at Makkah West for SR444 million ($118.5 million), a 380/110/13.8-kV substation at New Kandarah in Jeddah for SR500 million ($133.3 million), a project for the expansion of Sharorah power plant at a value of SR360 million ($96 million), and a 380-kV substation at Rabigh 2 power plant for SR505 million ($135 million).
