The viaduct installation for the Red Line of the Dubai Metro has been completed ahead of schedule, says Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
The 46.5 km viaduct superstructure for the Red Line, which has 1,324 spans, was officially completed with the last span on RPN 124–125 in Al Garhoud, opposite Al Bustan Rotana Hotel.
The first viaduct superstructure was completed in November 2006 in Al Quoz area.
“In all, 10 launching girders were brought in to work using the span-by-span erection method while the balanced cantilever method was used for about five per cent of the project for special bridges spanning over 72 m and above urban obstacles like interchanges, existing and future road projects.”
The RTA celebrated the milestone by congratulating key members of the contractor and consultant for completing the works in a ceremony held recently in Rotana Hotel.
