Business is booming at the Al Ma’awdah Group, a leading Bahrain-based stockist and supplier of a wide range of building materials which – having registered a 50 per cent increase in turnover last year – is optimistic of achieving similar results this year.

“We are supplying to almost all major contractors in Bahrain who are currently building most of the prestigious projects in the kingdom,” says a company spokesperson.
“Our company is well-renowned throughout Bahrain as a supplier of high quality products ranging from construction and building materials to furniture including an exclusive collection of steel and woodwork, which is intricately designed and made to customer specifications. We have the capacity to take on a variety of challenging projects,” he adds.
The group encompasses Al Ma’awdah Establishment for Construction Materials, Al Ma’awdah Construction and Al Ma’awdah Furniture Factory.
Al Ma’awdah has been involved in diversified business activities for more than two decades in Bahrain, and has recently boosted its portfolio with a new steel rebar cut-and-bend division that has a capacity to handle 2,000 tonnes per month of rebar.  The cut-and-bend factory is fully equipped with the latest computerised machineries to ensure timely delivery of products made to international quality standards and offered at an optimum price. This division stocks and supplies steel reinforcement bars and other cut-and-bend steel from Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
The construction materials division stocks and supplies a wide range of building materials and has a highly resourceful in-house team, which has extensive experience in selecting building materials and in customer relationship.
The group claims to be the only authorised marketer and distributor in Bahrain of Siporex thermal insulation building systems produced by LCC Siporex of Riyadh Saudi Arabia.  The range includes lightweight insulated blocks, cladding tiles, vertical and horizontal panels, roof/floor slabs, box-type and wall panel-type lintels. All these products produced from autoclave-aerated concrete having a very low thermal conductivity. Al Ma'awdah can also undertake mega turnkey civil projects using the Siporex system and has a specialised erection crew the system, approved by the Bahrain Ministry of Works.
The company also offers a complete range of building finishing materials from the Riyadh-based Saudi Serpo as well as Kaindl Floorings from Austria.  The Saudi Serpo product profile includes textured coatings such as emulsion paints, primer, oil-based paints, multi-purpose products, skim coatings, thin and thick plasters, tile adhesives, tile joint grouts, self-levelling compounds, waterproofing agents, cracker-fillers, bonding agents and metal primers, among others.
“One of the latest offerings from Kaindl Floorings is the Kaindl One collection of HDF (high-density fibreboard) laminate floorings, which are popular for exclusive interiors due to their durability and comfort factors. Hard-wearing, impact and shock resistant, this flooring system is also resistant to cigarette burns and other stains, environmentally friendly and is an easy-to-clean and glue-less installation product.”
Al Ma’awdah Construction has carried out a wide range of industrial, housing and commercial projects, high-rise buildings, private villas and hotels. This division has its own in-house resources of skilled and unskilled manpower comprising around 150 employees, as well as machinery and equipment.
Al Ma’awdah Furniture Factory manufactures a wide range of wooden doors, door frames, architraves, staircase handrails, kitchen units, wardrobes, cabinets and various types of wooden furniture and decorative items. Located in the Khamis area, the factory is more than 80 per cent automated which helps it to  manufacture high-quality products in bulk quantities and employs more than 50 carpenters, painters, labourers and other workers.
