Genie Industries, which made its maiden appearance at the Conmex Sharjah, (November 25 to 28), put on show the company’s range of access systems and also announced its intention to open up shop in Dubai to market its range of products.
Brad Abrahams, newly-appointed regional sales manager for the Middle East says: “Our presence at Conmex reflects our commitment to support our customers in the region. With the buoyant level of the construction sector in the area, we are currently experiencing a very strong demand across the range of equipment we manufacture: self-propelled booms and scissors, trailer-mounted booms, portable lifts, telehandlers and light towers. We intend to increase our presence in the near future to provide localised support to our customers and reinforce the strong links we’ve forged over the years with local companies.
Genie put on display the smallest rough terrain telehandler in its 14- strong model range, the GTH-2506, which with compact dimensions (1.80 m width, 1.92 m height) allows access in tight areas such as industrial buildings and underground car parks. Featuring a lifting height of 5.75 m, the GTH-2506 can easily reach the first floor level of most buildings, and has an impressive lift capacity of 2.5 tonnes. With hydrostatic four-wheel drive and three steering modes: two-wheel, four-wheel and crab steer, the GTH-2506 is highly manoeuvrable. The easy-to-use, multi-function proportional joystick provides fast and precise positioning for ease of operation and minimal operator effort with hand movement. The Deutz 63 hp engine is side-mounted for easy access to components. Its low pivot boom allows excellent visibility.
Also on display were the GS-1930 self-propelled electric scissor and the new Genie Runabout GR-20, a compact self-propelled vertical mast. The Runabout is a lightweight, aerial work platform that fits through doors, on lifts and down narrow aisles. It is an ideal tool for warehousing, stock-picking, inventory management and general maintenance and construction work. Other products on show included the AWP portable personnel lift, the SLA portable material lift.
