Queen of the Netherlands ... dredging for Shams project.

The ‘Queen of the Netherlands’, a high-capacity trailing suction hopper dredger, has begun dredging and reclamation operations in the waters of Abu Dhabi for Sorouh Real Estate’s Shams Abu Dhabi project on Reem island.

Sorouh awarded the dredging contract for Shams Abu Dhabi to Pal Technology with Boskalis Westminster as its dredging subcontractor and Ghantoot Contracting rock revetment subcontractor.
With a massive quantity of sand required for the company’s flagship project – 4.3 million cu m – the work is expected to last three months. Shams Abu Dhabi is located on Al Reem Island, which is 300 m across from the northeastern shore of Abu Dhabi city. It is one of the most important property developments in the UAE capital and will occupy over 1.32 million sq m, accounting for 25 per cent of the island.
