The UAE-based Eagle Electromechanical Company (EECO), a leader in water and wastewater treatment works, has recently been awarded Dubai Sports City sewage treatment plant job.

The contract scope includes design, build and operation and maintenance for 12 years. The plant will have a capacity of 25,000 cu m per day.
The contract was awarded based on the evaluation done by Clifton Coney Group (project management) and Hyder (UK-based consultant).
Eagle’s proposal was based on MBR Technology in association with Zenon, a Canadian company, which is considered the MBR (membrane bio-reactor) world leader, says a spokesman.
MBR is an advanced wastewater treatment technology with an extremely small foot-print that completely removes pathogenic organisms and provide consistent effluent quality, meeting the most stringent standards for wastewater re-use across the world.
The treated effluent will be used for irrigation and make up water for the Sports Canal in the project.
EECO has completed a string of prestigious projects that demonstrate its commitment to the environment, he says. These include treatment plants at The Gardens of Nakheel, Arabian Ranches of Emaar, Jebel Ali Free Zone, Dubai Silicon Oasis.
At The Gardens, Eagle commissioned the first phase expansion of the sewage treatment plant with a capacity of 30,000 cu m per day. The contract also envisaged 10-year operation and maintenance period.
Eagle commissioned last November a sewage treatment plant with a capacity of 6,000 cu m per day, based on the Extended Aeration Process, at Arabian Ranches. The design-and-build contract also included three years of operation and maintenance. The treated water is used for landscaping at the Arabian Ranches.
At Jebel Ali Free Zone, last April, Eagle commissioned a sewage treatment plant with a capacity of 4,500 cu m per day. The plant was based on SBR Technology (sequence batch reactor).
Eagle has also signed contract for design, build and three-year operation of a fast-track sewage treatment plant with a capacity of 3000 cu m per day at Dubai Silicon Oasis.
“We are committed to provide the best technical solutions to the UAE environmental market”, says Mohd Hijaz, the owner of EECO.
The EECO has a staff strength of more than 2,000 employees with around 120 engineers.
It has Dh800 million worth of ongoing jobs only in Dubai area, he says.
