The Dubai Metro construction team has recently constructed the first pier with a diameter of 1.75 m and a height of 7 m on the Dubai Metro project between the 6th and 7th interchange on Dubai’s Sheikh Zayed Road.

“The first pile for the project with a diameter of 2.2 m was constructed at the end of April, followed by the pile cap in late June,” says a spokesperson for Dubai Metro.
According to the plans, a total of 1,205 piers will be erected along the Red Line with the construction of theses piers scheduled for completed by the second quarter of next year.
The associated piled foundations on the entire project include 1,270 piles out of which 75 have been laid so far. Around eight pilling rigs will be employed on the project of which five piling rigs have been mobilized, with expected piling works at a rate of one pile per rig per day.
The construction of this first pier represents an important event on the project since it produces the first visible structure that can be seen clearly by residents and the users of Sheikh Zayed Road.
