Grass, a leading Austrian manufacturer of quality cabinet hinges and drawer slide systems, has established a direct link with its own representative in Sharjah in a move to get closer to its customers and further strengthen its presence in the UAE and other Gulf states.
Under the name Eurohouse, “we will focus on establishing even closer contacts with all our blue chip clients and direct customers in the GCC region,” says Roman Castelino, UAE-based sales and marketing manager for Grass for the UAE, other GCC countries, Jordan. The 15-year sales veteran is the sole sales and marketing representative for all Grass products.
The leading manufacturer of tried-and-tested world-class furniture fittings with a host of innovative products has further consolidated its position in the UAE market through its involvement in projects for leading developers such as Damac and Bawadi. It has also been specified for use in the Saba Towers 1 and 2 Projects as also the Burj Old Town Rising phases 1 and 2 in Dubai.
Worldwide, it has been chosen by many top manufacturers as the high-quality supplier of furniture hinges (Snap On 3000 Series), air cushioning system for doors (Airmatic Pin), full extension double-skin metal drawer systems (Nova Pro) and undermount slides with integrated cushioning (Interwood with Airmatic).
Grass products, which offer a 100,000 opening/closing-cycle guarantee – equivalent to about 20 to 25 years use in a kitchen – are tailored to meet today’s customers’ needs.
Elaborating the company’s products, Castelino says: “The new Interwood underbase system is a perfect synthesis of high standards tailored to the new application in wood, offering the benefits and qualities customers have come to expect. These include the Airmatic cushioning system, an unparalleled 40 kg load-bearing capacity, installation benefits in terms of height and front adjustment and no-tool fitting and removal, all fully compatible with the Nova Pro hole pattern.
“The development of Interwood has been a huge hit. Stability and optimised balance and the lowest possible pull-out forces with perfect hygienic cushioning have helped Interwood to attain the highest possible level of acceptance.
“Cushioned drawer retraction has become a standard feature of high-end furniture making – but there’s more than one kind of cushioning. Air as the cushioning medium has a huge advantage over other standard systems in that there is no escaping fluid. The new integrated Grass Airmatic guarantees the drawer will open easily and effortlessly, is practically maintenance free and has 20 per cent lower pull out forces than other systems.
“The system also allows existing fitting dimensions to be retained, making retrofits possible,
“The Airmatic system, based on pneumatics, was first used in drawers and slides. It’s a standard feature of the Grass Nova Pro sliding system and Grass was the first to present a hinge with integrated cushioning,” Castelino.
In the Gulf, Grass has partnered with Adada and Kabbani in Jeddah, Kafco Kitchens and Al Taiseer Kitchens in Riyadh, all in Saudi Arabia; Labtec, a manufacturer of laboratory furniture (in Sharjah); Alno Middle East (in Jebel Ali, Dubai); White Aluminium (in Abu Dhabi); Bahrain Aluminium Kitchens (in Bahrain); and Jorsel (in Jordan) to ensure its products are easily available in the region.
Grass, one of the largest operating companies of the Wurth Group, notched sales of 100 million euros ($126.35 million) at its Hochst site and $70 million in the US (Grass America). Over the last two years, the company doubled its investments and this year will invest further in staff, products and sites. Its 12.5 million euro investment last year has paid off with the first quarter of this year seeing a steady rise in its sales graph.
‘Grass’ products are produced in our factories to the highest standards in Austria and Germany only. The US factory produces solely for the American market,” Castelino adds.
