The masterplan of Legends Dubailand, a $3.8 billion themed destination within Dubailand, has been given the nod by Dubai Municipality paving the way for groundwork to commence on the project’s first phase.

“This multi-use, multi-concept real estate development coming up on a 24.7 million sq ft area blends technical ingenuity and Arabian fantasy,” says a spokesman for the developer.
The bulk groundwork for “Living Legends, one of the crucial components of the Legends project, will commence shortly,” says Fauzia Al Khanjari, general manger of Legends Dubailand.
The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2008.
Promoted by the Bahrain-based Islamic commercial and banking services major Gulf Finance House, Legends Dubai will offer world-class entertainment and leisure facilities and add a new dimension to the world of entertainment. There will be three components to this multi-billion dollar project that the promoters are sure will become the favoured leisure hub for local, regional and international tourists. While Legends of Arabia will bring together fantasy and fables from days gone by, Legends of Nature will draw on the forces of nature. Its bio-dome park will feature an aquarium, marine environment and a water park. Besides this, Legends Dubailand will house a leisure complex, four themed hotels, a nine-hole golf course and golf academy, a golf course hotel, villas, residential apartments and office towers and buildings. The design contracts for the infrastructure, golf course and residential buildings have already been awarded but names are not being revealed at the moment.
“We are excited about the project and confident it will be a huge success,” says Al Khanjari, adding that it would “complement the other projects that are under way or being drawn up in Dubai to reach the goal of 15 million tourists by 2015.”
