Zamil completes PEB plant expansion

Zamil Steel has announced the completion of the expansion of its pre-engineered steel buildings (PEB) manufacturing facilities in Dammam, which has allowed the company to boost its production capacity.

The expansion features larger buildings spaces, new machinery and state-of-the-art robotic equipment that will boost the company’s production capacity to over 100,000 tonnes per year, says a company spokesman.
“This represents an increase of over 30 per cent in our capacity over 2003,” says Khalid Abdulla Al Zamil, managing director of Zamil Industrial Investment Company (ZIIC) and president of Zamil Steel.
“We needed this expansion in order to meet the growing demands from our customers – both domestically and internationally. Our production capacity will give us a clear edge in responding to all our clients’ fast-track demands.”
Zamil Steel continues to deliver its total building solutions to 75 countries worldwide through 50 international sales offices and a vast network of certified builders. The company has been revolutionising the building industry by introducing the pre-engineered buildings concept to new and challenging projects.
“We have been awarded and are executing major projects in the region, such as the 120,000 sq m Aziz Mall, in Jeddah, which was the order of 8,500 tonnes.
This expansion is to ensure that we maintain the timely quality of service that our clients are accustomed to. Plans are also under way to further increase our annual PEB production capacity to reach 120,000 tonnes by the end of the first quarter of 2005,” adds Al Zamil.
“We have expanded our production capabilities in our other facilities in Egypt and Vietnam as well and this will help us meet the steadily growing world demand for steel buildings. It will further enhance our efficiency and strengthen our leadership position throughout Asia and Africa and enable us to respond to the requirements of various market segments,” he concludes.
