Aggreko powers ahead in Egypt

Aggreko's genset makes way to Zeitco's unmanned oil rig.

Leading temporary power and temperature control services provider – Aggreko – has secured a nine-month contract to supply temporary power services to Zeitco’s new facility in Egypt.

Zeitco (East Zeit Petroleum Company) has been formed to develop the East Zeit Oil Field, located 10 km offshore Egypt in the central southern Gulf of Suez.
“The unmanned oilrig, Platform ‘A’ located at the East Zeit Field retrieves oil through a number of electric submersible pumps (ESP). During planned upgrade of the permanent power supply on board the platform an alternative power supply was required to continue operation,” says sales manager Andy Walker.
Aggreko provided a 2 MW temporary power package installed on board Platform ‘A’ to power the entire facility and operate the three ESP pumps allowing oil production to continue.
“The Aggreko power package, consisted of two 1,250 kVA generators, a purpose-built distribution panel, 25 m of associated cables, and a containerised fuel tank, which was mobilised from the UK, Europe and Dubai and delivered to the Red Sea Port in less than 22 days,” says Walker.
“As the rig is unmanned, reliability and service was paramount to Zeitco. We provided specialised engineers to install, commission, and maintain the package 24/7 for the duration of the project.”
Mark Paul, director and operations manager of Zeitco says: “Since we commenced the contract with Aggreko we have benefitted from their first-class service and expertise. Reliable equipment and support is vital in this industry and Aggreko constantly supply us with both. We look forward to Aggreko completing the project successfully and working with them again.”
