Leading exhibition organiser dmg world media has joined hands with India Exhibition Management (IEM) to stage two important building and construction shows in India – the India International Construction Contracting Exhibition (Icon 2005) and the Interiors International India (III 2005) – at the new Expo XXI Noida International Expocentre in New Delhi.
Icon, which will run from March 15 to 17 next year, will attract top builders, contractors, developers, specifiers and architects from around the globe and help capitalise on the numerous opportunities up for grabs in the Indian construction sector.
“With a population of over 1 billion and economic growth set to be nine per cent till 2010, India is the latest land of opportunities,” says Bernard Walsh, managing director, dmg world media.
“The housing and commercial project needs are growing by the day. According to estimates, the cumulative spending on Indian construction sector would touch the mark of $450 billion during the seven-year period from 2004 to 2010. This sector alone accounts for approximately six per cent of the country’s GDP.
“With such a steep rise in this sector, Icon 2005 is surely a must-attend event for all who want to expand their horizons and want to find strong footholds for their business ventures,” he adds.
“This exhibition offers a one-stop shop for construction sector professionals and provides them an opportunity to not only showcase the latest products, services, technologies, building systems but also target the key decision-makers and expand their business in India and beyond,” Walsh says.
“What sets Icon 2005 apart from other events is its function as a common platform for the entire industry. It has been planned to be a catalyst which will bring more growth to already booming construction industry,” he adds.
The major projects identified either on drawing boards or about to commence reach the figure of $390 billion. These projects in civil aviation, shipping, ports, telecommunication, urban development and water resources would help the construction sector boom for many years to come.
The Icon will be closely followed by the Interiors International India exhibition 2005, from April 26 to 28.
III 2005 will showcase the latest in furnishing, interior design services, wall coverings, interior architecture, art and accessories, flooring, textiles, window products lightings and shopfittings, and offer new avenues of business to interior exhibitors and professionals across the globe.
“Imports of furniture and interior products in particular have risen sharply, registering a growth of 15 per cent per annum. The import and exports of interior products is now in excess of $1.2 billion,” Walsh adds.
“The expo will be a launchpad for the latest in products, services and technologies, which make up the furniture, furnishing, interiors and shopfitting industries. Interiors International India is planned to be the catalyst which brings even more growth to the interiors and its related industries giving the professionals an opportunity to target the key decision-makers,” he points out.
The exhibition venue – with a 10,000 sq m display area – offers two new multi-functional air-conditioned halls, latest telecommunication IT services, secured underground parking, dedicated food and beverages outlets and support services including freight forwarding, marketing, stand design and construction and dedicated service manager for each event.
