Honeywell put on display its advanced control solutions for enhanced plant efficiency and operations at the Middle East’s premier energy exhibition, Power-Gen, which was held at Bahrain last month.
During the three-day exhibition, the company exhibited technology solutions that will help Middle Eastern power generation plants improve productivity, reduce costs and increase safety.
“Demand for such solutions is increasing as a result of the recent deregulation and privatisation of electric utilities in the region,” says Hussain Al Atrakchi, regional general manager and executive director of Honeywell Automation Control Solutions, Middle East.
“Power generation plants will need to increase revenues and reduce the cost of delivered products for fossil fuel-fired steam and combined-cycle power plants. At the same time, they need to maintain safety and reliability while meeting stringent environmental regulations.”
Honeywell Process Solutions put on display its industrial automation applications, including Uniformance PHD, profit optimizer, ProfitMax, ShadowPlant Trainer, utility fossil boiler control (UES) and Performance Monitoring.
The company’s standard hardware platforms for power generation customers include the Experion Process Knowledge System (PKS), and FSC safety management systems, which are proven industry solutions, says Atrakchi.
“With major Honeywell power projects already under way in the Middle East, including the estimated $1 billion Al Taweelah project, and the recently announced $1.25 million GCC power project, deregulation and privatisation are greatly affecting the way plants operate as businesses,” says Atrakchi. “The restructuring will require electric power-generating companies to respond to a fast developing business environment.”
“Honeywell is pleased to offer our Middle Eastern power generation customers process control solutions that will usher them through this period of transition and through the many years ahead,” he adds.
