The Oman office of Turner Construction International (TCI) – project manager for the Shangri La Barr Al Jissah Resort in Muscat, Oman – has announced that the $180 million project is on schedule to open in the fall of 2005.

Situated on the shore of the Gulf of Oman, the Shangri La Barr Al Jissah Resort is located approximately 10 km south of Muscat. The resort, enclosed by mountain ranges on two sides and the beachfront on the third, will include a total of 680 rooms and suites in three separate hotels.
The resort complex – a total of 124 acres – includes a spa, meeting and banquet facilities, Omani heritage village, swimming pools, a lazy river ride and eight restaurants. Turner is also overseeing internal development of utilities, infrastructure, and landscaping.
As project manager, Turner leads an international team of designers, contractors, and consultants. Including Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo (UK/US), WS Atkins (UK), Wilson & Associates (Singapore), Carillion (UK), and several specialist consultants. The operator, Hong Kong-based Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, currently manages 42 hotels worldwide.
