BCCI commissions study
Manama: Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) has launched a study to create a classification system for Bahrain’s contractors, to help companies and ministries make better choices about contracts. It will classify contractors according to size, type, speciality, financial capability and other criteria.
The BD38,000 ($101,063) study, by BDO Jawad Habib, was commissioned by the BCCI at a signing ceremony at the chamber’s premises in Manama.
The BCCI signed another agreement with Habib to launch a feasibility study ahead of the chamber’s plan to establish an investment holding company before the middle of the year. The company aims to undertake projects to reinforce the participation of the private sector in the economic development of Bahrain.

Plans for tent city put on hold
Manama: Plans to build a BD700,000 ($1.85 million) tent city in Bahrain’s desert to accommodate 1,500 Formula One spectators have been put on hold for a year.
The man behind the project, Rayan Kazerooni, says there was simply not enough time to complete the necessary work before April. The plan was to construct five separate camps in Sakhir – each capable of hosting 300 people during the Grand Prix.
