
A two-day conference held at Muscat’s Al Bustan Palace Hotel focused on major new projects and investment opportunities in Oman.
The premier event, which was held under the patronage of Hamoud bin Abdullah Al Harthy, president of the State Council, discussed on a large number of business opportunities arising from key developments.
Commerce and Industry Minister Maqbool bin Ali Sultan and Manpower Minister Jumaa bin Ali Al Jumaa were among the major speakers at the event.
Presentations were made by key officials from Barr Al Jissah Resort, International Power, Ministry of Oil and Gas, Muscat Golf and Country Club, Oman Oil Company, Oman Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, Oman Tourism Development Company, Oman Wastewater Services Company, Petroleum Development Oman, Qalhat LNG, Sohar Industrial Port and Salalah Port Services.
An important topic was the development of various ports in Oman, which include Sohar Industrial Port and Salalah Port.
Jan Meijer, chief executive officer of Sohar Industrial Port Company, presented an overview of the port of Rotterdam’s strategy, details of government investment in the Sohar industrial area, development of associated facilities and future prospects of the port.
Similarly, Oman Wastewater Services Company general manager OmarAl Wahaibi outlined the status of his company’s venture.
Mohsin bin Khamis Al Balushi, undersecretary for tourism, spoke on exploring the development of tourism in Oman, where as there will be detailed presentations on Seeb seafront development, the Muscat Golf and Country Club and Barr Al Jissah.
The conference is being organised by the Middle East Economic Digest (Meed) with an active support from Omani Centre for Investment Promotion and Export Development (Ociped).
