
Bahrain’s Ministry of Electricity and Water has awarded Sasakura Engineering Company of Japan the BD10 million ($26.5 million) Ras Abu Jarjur brackish water reverse osmosis desalination plant work.
Sasakura will work to augment the potable water production capacity of the plant by 3.2 million gallons per day, increasing the plant’s production capacity to 16 million gallons per day.
The current expansion will involve adding three million gallons by installing two more units, each having a capacity of 7,200 cu m. The contract agreement was recently signed and the project will be completed in two years.
The project has been designed to boost the water production capabilities in the Kingdom.
Sasakura Engineering Company of Japan, which meet all technical specifications had built the Ras Abu Jarjur reverse osmosis plant in 1983 and the first expansion in 1994.
