The Riyadh-based Aljomaih Holding Company will promote four new redesigned and upgraded TCM trucks in the 15-23 tonne lift category at SaudiBuild 2003.
The trucks, manufactured by TCM, Japan, include a long list of improvisations that are expected to make them more efficient and easier to use.
According to a spokesman for TCM, the performance of the four models has been significantly enhanced to provide the trucks with better climbing power, greater speed and manoeuvrability. The improved body design also provides truck users with a clearer front and rear view from the cabin. The trucks have been fitted with environmental-friendly, low-emission engines to meet the 2nd stage pollution control norms.
TCM's programme for innovative design has also included the heavy-duty models starting from the FD 160 model to the FD 230. The innovations include an improvement in gradeability of up to 18 per cent, with load at the speed of 1.6 kmph. The loaded towing capacity of the truck has been increased by 15 per cent.
According to the general manager of Aljomaih (heavy and agricultural equipment division), Abdullah Sulaiman Al-Ali, such enhancements in the performance of the vehicle bring about an increase in forklift productivity, which helps companies to save on time and money.
'Even the straddle carrier has been made quicker, safer and driver friendly. The upgrade version of the straddle carrier for major hub ports is equipped with self-powered generator with a propulsion system that is significantly different from the existing conventional power systems. The diesel electric propulsion system used in the carriers, utilises an air-conditioned generator powered by a diesel engine and an inverter motor with reduction gear which drives the wheels,' the spokesman for TCM says.
The designers at TCM have been able to provide the straddle carrier with greater turning stability, by installing the engine at the lower portion of the frame and the comfort in handling has been enhanced by improving rear visibility. According to the company, the productivity of the carrier has been improved significantly by increasing its acceleration as well as hoisting speed.
New TCM standard models of diesel, gasoline, LPG, electric powered forklifts are also available with Aljomaih, which according to TCM could become a part of the total logistics solutions in the manufacturing, warehousing, construction or transport industries.
Aljomaih also represents Iveco Aifo (Fiat), New Holland and Fiat Kobelco of Italy, Claas and MTU of Germany, Nokka-Tume of Finland, Perkins of UK, Italy's Mergo, Nardi and Sogema and Spain's Arcusin, TCM and Tacom of Japan and Valley of the US.
