BAHRAIN is fast-tracking development and infrastructure projects across the country with record-breaking expenditure, a report said.

The Works Ministry has already spent 32 per cent of its record BD214-million ($567.6-million) budget for this year, kick-starting highway schemes and other projects. It has also spent a record 55 per cent of the BD129-million ($342.2-million) budget for development projects for ‘client’ ministries.
“Committing this kind of money in the beginning of the year, when we have had a record budget, is a significant achievement,” said ministry under-secretary Nayef Al Kalali.
Major projects already under way include the Isa Town Gate Interchange, improvements to roads and avenues and completion of the Zallaq Bridge to the Bahrain University entrance.
