

ABU DHABI’S TOURISM Development & Investment Company (TDIC) has unveiled full-fledged plans and designs for the Saadiyat Beach Apartments, with all 495 Phase One apartments due to open for leasing in the second quarter of 2011, and for completion by the fourth quarter of 2011.
The apartments will provide modern and dynamic living spaces in private gated communities, from simple studios to multiple bedroom apartments. The apartments are minutes away from the Cultural District, and close to the facilities of the Saadiyat Beach Marina Village, due to open in the fourth quarter of 2012 and set to become the premier residential, shopping and entertainment destination in the Saadiyat Beach District.
Lee Tabler, chief executive officer, TDIC, said: “The Saadiyat Beach Apartments offer Abu Dhabi residents the chance to experience and enjoy life on Saadiyat Island as the different districts develop. Following the success of the sale of Phase One of Saadiyat Beach Villas last year, we anticipate similar success for these modern apartments.”
Designed by US architects JZMK and AN Design, the apartments are inspired by Arabian and Mediterranean architecture and complemented by top-quality finishes and fittings. Each of the three neighbourhoods will have its own 25-m swimming pool, barbecue area and sports facilities including gym and tennis court, in addition to access to a stunning landscaped community park allowing the privacy and space to enjoy one of Abu Dhabi’s most sought-after addresses.
Tabler said: “The Saadiyat Beach District is opening up an incomparable range of premium residential and entertainment choices on Saadiyat Island, accessible by land or sea once the first marina in the Saadiyat Beach district opens in 2012. The Saadiyat Beach Marina Village nearby will provide community services and entertainment choices for the families and young professionals living in these apartments. The village also benefits from a medical centre, grocery store, community centre and nursery, in addition to a busy cosmopolitan shopping scene with a central plaza, exclusive marina for up to 150 boats, and a range of restaurants and cafes including a top-end yacht club.
There will be 14 Saadiyat Beach Apartment buildings spread over three neighbourhoods plots ranging in specifications between premium, mid-range and standard. A total of 963 apartments will be built. The first phase of the apartments, comprising of six buildings; three standard with a total 285 apartments and three mid-range with a total of 210 apartments, are due for completion in fourth quarter of 2011. Soletanche Bachy has been appointed to carry out piling and excavation work as the early works contractor. This will be completed shotly.
TDIC is planning to deliver 1,800 hotel rooms and more than 1,700 residential units by 2012. The company currently has over 55 projects worth over Dh120 billion ($32 billion), planned for completion by 2020 across Abu Dhabi, including its flagship Saadiyat Island.
By 2012, TDIC will have delivered over 3,000 hotels rooms hence supporting Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority’s (ADTA) aim to attract 2.3 million guests to Abu Dhabi by the same date. This includes the 1,200 delivered in 2009 and the 1,800 to be delivered in 2010 and 2011.
