Al-FUTTAIM Logistics has won a contract to provide third-party logistics (3PL) services for Caterpillar in the Middle East.
Caterpillar is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines and industrial gas turbines.
The Al-Futtaim Group company will provide customs brokerage into and out of Dubai, freight forwarding services in addition to complete road transportation solutions for Caterpillar’s product distribution centre (PDC) in Dubai.
Caterpillar’s PDC has been developed to increase the velocity of product through the supply chain and therefore improve delivery time to its dealers. The PDC provides high levels of sustained services and short availability.
Tom Nauwelaerts, head of logistics at Al-Futtaim, said the company’s demonstrated capabilities, well-established transport experience in the region, solid infrastructure, strategic location and competitive pricing model were key elements in the decision being made in its favour.
