
Kone wins Elite order
KONE has won an order to supply 12 elevators to the 381 m Elite Residence Tower in Dubai, the UAE. The order includes energy-efficient solutions such as three Kone MonoSpace, special platforms as well as nine Kone MiniSpace elevators with speeds up to 6 m/s.
During construction, Kone will provide transportation for goods and crew with its innovative Kone JumpLift solution. Using one of the building’s permanent hoist way, the Kone JumpLift includes a temporary machine room that is moved up as the construction work progresses.
Memon towers on schedule
DUBAI-BASED Memon Investments has said work on its Champions Towers II (CT II) and Champions Towers III (CT III) projects have registered a steady pace of progress. The company has already completed six out of 14 floors and five out of 16 floors for CT II and CT III, respectively.
Coastal development guide hits stands
NEW guidelines for Abu Dhabi’s coastal development have been released as part of the Plan Abu Dhabi 2030’s Environment Framework Plan.
Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council (UPC), the agency responsible for the future of Abu Dhabi’s urban environments, has joined forces with the Environment Agency-Abu Dhabi (EAD) to unveil the guidelines, the result of an earlier initiative called the Natural and Cultural Heritage Strategy.

Al Masah names contractors
AL MASAH International Real Estate, a Dubai-based real estate company, has appointed two contractors to complete works on three of its projects.
Al Shafaar Civil Engineering has been assigned as the main contractor for two projects: Judi Palace, worth Dh50 million ($13.61 million), and Jouri 5, valued at Dh181 million ($49.27 million), both located in Jumeirah Village in Dubai.
Al Reem Dubai Contracting, meanwhile, has been appointed to begin main construction work on the Dh79 million ($21.50 million) Chess Tower, located in Dubai Sport City.

Ajman concrete pour completed
SWEET Homes General Contracting (SHGC) has completed concrete pouring on the largest foundation raft within the Dh3.5 billion ($952 million) community project Ajman Uptown.
In total, about 6,064 cu m of concrete was poured continuously within a 26-hour period to form the substructure of ‘Kentia’, one of the seven commercial towers within the massive master development.
The concrete pouring on the tower, which occupies a total area of 5,799 sq m, has been completed using five mobile concrete pumps and a laser level machine.
Rimal completes Al Gurm work
RIMAL Engineering Products (Rimal), the premier agent for construction and building materials in the UAE, has announced the completion of its work at Aldar’s prestigious Al Gurm Resort. This takes the luxury development one step closer to its completion with all internal walls and ceilings finished. Rimal started supplying Conmix plaster to the project in April 2008. A total of 13 million kg of plaster has been used for the interiors of the development in Abu Dhabi.

Jumeirah towers handed over
PROJECT Management Group (PMG) handed over the first phase of the Dh1.1 billion ($299.43 million) Jumeirah Business Centre Towers in Dubai to its developer, Al Fajer Properties. The towers comprise five buildings located in the Jumeirah Lake Towers, four of which have 39 storeys and the fifth, 44. Each tower sits on a 1,650 sq m plot adding up to 8,250 sq m for all five plots with the built-up area being 297, 831 sq m. All towers have four basement floors consisting of parking and service areas, retail outlets and prayer rooms.
DPG’s Mirdif on last lap
DUBAI Properties Group (DPG), a member of Dubai Holding, has launched the last phase of its Shorooq community in Mirdif, offering 1,428 residential units comprising studios, one- and two-bedroom apartments.
DPG’s announcement follows the successful leasing of the first two phases of Shorooq Mirdif. The family-focused development is one of the most sought-after neighbourhoods in Dubai, offering annual leases for as low as Dh49,000 ($13,340) for a studio, Dh65,000 ($17,696) for a one-bedroom and Dh79,000 ($21,508) for a two-bedroom apartment. The final phase will feature 42 apartment buildings that provide a variety of unit designs and layout.
RTA develops new e-system
THE information technology department at the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has teamed up with the RTA’s contracts and purchasing department to develop an electronic system for contracts management, enabling monitoring of all contract details and generating of contract reports electronically, in a smooth and accurate manner. Details include contract particulars, procedural status, validity, bank guarantee, due instalments and other data necessary for contracts follow-up.
Glazing completed on Capital Gate
ABU Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (Adnec) has revealed that glazing work on the iconic Capital Gate tower, currently under construction next to Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, is practically complete. More than 12,500 individually-shaped glass panels have been installed on Capital Gate’s façade in a complex engineering feat which has taken Adnec and its construction partners 10 months to complete.
