The Terrain brand name is associated with high quality.

IN a move that will further strengthen its position in the Middle East markets, leading European plastic piping system manufacturer Polypipe has committed to further investment in the region, enabling it to take on full control and management of the Terrain product brand from the previous owners.

The changes were announced following Polypipe Terrain’s  highly effective first-ever appearance at the Middle East’s largest annual building and construction exhibition – The Big 5 – held in Dubai last November.
A new agreement over the management of the Terrain brand came into effect in December and has full approval from all parties involved. Although Polypipe purchased the Terrain business in July 2007, it was agreed that as a short-term arrangement the Terrain brand would continue to be represented in the Middle East by the original owners.
Terrain products have been used in the Middle East for 50 years and have pioneered the development of PVC drainage systems in the region. This has helped Terrain to become widely acknowledged as the product of choice in the region where it benefits from a high degree of customer loyalty, according to its manufacturer. The Terrain business offers a broad portfolio of non-pressure piping systems and is also a leading name in the UK for above-ground drainage products in commercial applications.
‘“The Terrain brand name has an extremely strong heritage and is associated with high-quality products and a customer-focussed approach,” said David Hall, CEO, Polypipe. “This move will give Polypipe the opportunity to develop the brand further in the growing Middle East market, which despite challenging worldwide economic conditions, continues to provide excellent opportunities.
“By increasing the focus on local support for the Terrain brand, Polypipe can significantly expand its presence in the piping systems market.”
Comprising 28 principal brands, Polypipe manufactures a comprehensive range of plastic piping for the residential, commercial and infrastructure market from 17 principal sites.
From its foundation in 1980 Polypipe has grown into a global organisation with more than 1,800 employees across Europe and the Middle East.
Producing over 350 million m of pipe every year, it has a turnover of more than $459 million, manufacturing some 20,000 products for water, air, energy and telecoms applications.
