Bahrain-based Zarwan Fibre-glass is one of the few companies that can claim to have been associated with the Bahrain City Centre project right from its inception.
“In fact, our first order at the City Centre project was for the supply of fibreglass tanks for the contractor, even before the ground works could commence,” says company manager B Ajikumar. “However, since that first order we have struck a good relationship with the contractors of the City Centre project, including Cebarco, Voltas and Almoayyed SK International, and have supplied and installed a range of fibreglass products worth close to BD350,000 ($927,500).”
Some of the works undertaken by the company onsite include installation of fibreglass pipelines for chiller units; GRP linings for storm water drains; fibreglass enclosures and field joints for Voltas; and fibreglass sediment buckets for the centre’s drainage system to Almoayyed SK International.
Apart from the City Centre project, the company is also associated with the Sitra Bridge project where it has supplied GRP sectional water storage tanks to Gamuda Berhad and the Bokhowa Group.
Established in 1993, the company has grown from a small operation with a four-member team to become one of the leading manufacturers of fibreglass products in the kingdom, says Ajikumar. “Currently, we have close to 70 people working at our factory along the Zaid bin Omerah Highway, near Hamad Town in Bahrain.”
Zarwan Fibreglass manufactures a wide range of products that include water tanks, boats, enclosures, liners, chemical tanks, and sheets, apart from undertaking specialised works involving glassfibre.
The company also imports an assortment of high-quality GRP gratings (pultrusions) and ladders and undertakes the supply and installation of hot-pressed panel-type water tanks. It also offers various site services that include the installation of GRP pipeline field joints and fittings, which is carried out by trained technicians, using approved materials.
A major manufacturer of fibreglass boats, Zarwan Fibreglass claims that more than 30 per cent of its products are exported to the other GCC states.
“So far this year, we have been able to exceed the sales figures that we have achieved in the same period last year and we are hopeful that the trend will continue,” Ajikumar concludes.
