Marmara Trading Company has over the years proudly established a name and preferred vendor status in the sanitary ware, tiles, and accessories sector of the construction and retail industry.
This reputation has enabled Marmara to secure to date over $700,000 in orders from the Bahrain City Centre project and Marmara is certain of clinching more orders from future works on the hotels and tenant fitout work.
“We supplied a range of tiles that will cover approximately 16,000 sq m, and sanitary ware for the main areas of the project including the public toilets and the food courts,” says company general manager S Sundaram. “The tiles include our best ranges in the Italian and Turkish brands we represent.”
Apart from the main mall areas, the company has supplied materials to the development’s anchor store Carrefour and many of the 360 tenants.
“The City Centre, like our earlier iconic project – the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) – is a prestigious one, which is why our focus has been on delivering high-quality materials in time, to cost and to the complete satisfaction of our customers,” he says.
Apart from the tiles, the company has provided five-star sanitary ware from Duravit of Germany, mixers from the German firm Kludi, concealed plumbing mechanisms that includes urinal sensors and sensor mixers from the Switzerland-based Geberit, a range of stainless steel washroom hygiene products that included hand dryers, soap dispensers, toilet paper dispensers, and waste receptacles from the UK-based FC Frost, and grab bars and baby diaper-changing stations from Spanish manufacturer Mediclinics, says Sundaram. For the public toilets, the company has supplied bathroom vanities, wall-hung water closets and wash basins for the physically-challenged.
Part of the KAR Group of companies, Marmara Trading specialises in quality ceramics, sanitary ware and whirlpool baths, and it has showrooms located in prime locations in Bahrain.
The company’s global product range includes tiles from Italy such as D’Imola, Ceramica Sant Agostino, NovaBell, Marca Corona, and White Horse from Malaysia. It is the sole supplier for Duravit, Geberit and Kludi products and also deals with mixers from New Form Italy; as well as bathroom accessories from Pomdor, Mediclinics, and German manufacturer Emco.
The company’s second retail division, Tile and Style, specialises in quality sanitary ware from Thailand and Malaysia, and tiles from China and Egypt, says Sundaram.
Marmara Trading has, in a short span of time, been involved with some of the leading projects in the kingdom. These include the Sheikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa Library and Conference Centre, Citibank headquarters, the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry headquarters and Reef Island.
The company’s products have been supplied to a number of projects in Saudi Arabia and it has also recently won an order for Abu Dhabi Formula One circuit.
Sundaram attributes much of the success of the company to the philosophy of its CEO, who believes in having most of the materials required for a project in stock well in advance. “This has allowed us to supply the materials to the contractors well on time,” he says. “At times, we have even airlifted some materials so that they could be delivered to the client on schedule.”
KAR Group is based in Bahrain and operates in Bahrain, UAE, Saudi Arabia and Syria. The group incorporates several business lines comprising: construction, civil engineering, development, land and property acquisition, aluminium fabrication, carpentry, asphalt plant/servicing, interior fitout, building services, electronics, sale and hire of construction plant, retail showrooms and trade sales of ceramic and sanitary wares.
Supported by an over 8,000 strong workforce, the KAR Group group has a multi-million-dollar turnover, a major part of which comes from its construction division headed by Cebarco Bahrain, its subsidiaries and affiliates.
