Polycon Bahrain, which has launched operations in Bahrain with the production of polyethylene water and chemical storage tanks, will be promoting its innovative range of products at Stand 1A40 at gulfBID.
The new Bahrain-UAE joint venture firm has been set up in collaboration with Polycon Gulf Limited – a subsidiary of the UAE-based Al Nasser Industrial Enterprises – which is an ISO 9001:2000-certified company established in 1993 to manufacture a wide range of polyethylene water and chemical storage tanks.
Polycon Gulf was the first of its kind to be commissioned in the GCC with an installed capacity in excess of 20 million gallons per year of international food-grade quality storage tanks, says a spokesman for the company. It also has the distinction of manufacturing the first four-layered tank in the Gulf, he adds.
The raw material used in the manufacture is approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), while the company’s products have the approval of the European Union and the UAE municipalities and the FDA.
Polycon Bahrain manufactures rotomoulded horizontal and vertical tanks in standard and insulated grades, with capacities ranging from 500 to 8,000 litres to the same rigid specifications, while similar approvals for the tanks will also be obtained for Bahrain.
“Polyethylene rotomoulded tanks offer protection against accumulation of bacteria, algae and fungus and the insulated varieties keep the water cool in spite of extreme heat or cold – which are problems commonly encountered with concrete, metal and fibreglass tanks,” says the spokesman.
Polycon Bahrain also produces polyethylene road barriers, which can be filled with water at site to add weight, making them a viable alternative to concrete barriers, he says.
“Polyethylene road barriers come manufactured in bright and easily visible colours and can be easily transported without needing a crane or boom truck,” he says. “They are extensively used in the UAE and other GCC countries as they do not incur maintenance cost, and cause less vehicle damage while providing greater safety to passengers, in the event of a crash.”
Plans are also under way to manufacture pontoon floats and a wide range of marine products.
The company offers comprehensive services including installation and removal of old tanks, where required.
