A Dh168.9 million ($46 million) contract to build what will be Sharjah’s tallest skyscraper has been awarded to Al Ofok International Engineering.
The skyscraper, called the Al Salam Tower, will soar 57 storeys, reaching a height of 210 m. It is being built by the Armada Group.
A piling contract worth Dh5 million has been awarded to Zetas Company, whilst a concrete ready-mix contract, valued at Dh2 million, has been awarded to Star ReadyMix, a Sharjah-based firm.
“These two companies were chosen for their specific expertise,” says Armada chairman Dr Mohammed Raheef Hakmi. “Both are reputable companies with excellent records that meet the rigorous demands of such a massive construction endeavor as the Salam Tower.”
The tower will offer a built-up area of 800,000 sq ft with 284 flats, including twelve penthouse suites, overlooking the Al Khan lakes. Also included will be a five-storey covered parking and a meeting room on the ground floor that is equipped with the most modern audio-visual facilities. The mezzanine floor will house numerous office spaces. There will also be an entire floor for a state-of-the-art health club, with nursery and dedicated swimming pools for men and women.
The Salam Tower is expected to be the central landmark of the emirate and will welcome tenants as early as 2006.
