Officials sign the Neom Construction Village homes building agreement.

Neom, a new destination being created in Saudi Arabia, has joined hands with Al Tamimi Group and Saudi Arabian Trading & Construction Company (Satco) to break ground on the first residential complexes for workers at the Construction Village.

This comes following the recent awarding of contracts to the duo by Neom for the construction, financing, operation and development of the residential complexes at the Construction Village  for 10 years.

The Construction Village will consist of three residential areas for 30,000 residents who will move to Neom during the coming period to build the different phases of the $500-billion futuristic city. It has provision for future expansion as the project develops to accommodate more than 100,000 residents.

The ground-breaking ceremony was attended by Neom CEO Engineer Nazmi Al Nasr along with Al Tamimi Group chairman Tariq Al Tamimi and Satco chairman and CEO Malek Entebi along with other officials.

As per the deal, al Tamimi Group will build two residential complexes, each with a capacity of 10,000 workers, while Satco will build a similar complex with the same capacity.

The two developers will operate the village for 10 years and build the residential areas in line with the best international standards for contractors’ accommodation as per the IFC (International Finance Corporation).

Residents will be accommodated in living areas built around green spaces comprising orchards, vegetable plots and ornamental gardens and will have access to a range of recreation facilities including cricket, soccer fields, tennis, basketball courts, gymnasiums, running tracks, swimming pools and indoor games rooms, according to Neom.

The village will also have waste management and recycling facilities to eliminate landfill areas and to protect the environment.

The residential area will offer workers a lifestyle aimed at creating a healthy work environment for them in line with Neom’s intentions and global best practices, said the developer.

The residential development boasts a vast area that can be used at a later stage for the construction of further complexes to meet the needs of the project to accommodate the influx of labour into it as the project grows in scale, it stated.

Al Nasr called upon the duo to concentrate on recruiting local talent and increasing the local input of products and services to support of the Saudi economy

Neom is among the most ambitious project in the world, being developed on a sprawling 26,500-sq-km area in the north-west of the kingdom.
