TOKYO-based Hitachi Sumitomo Heavy Industries Construction Crane Company (HSC) has launched the SCX1000A-3, a  100-tonne capacity hydraulic crawler crane with a new design and colour aimed at the international market.

“The new model is designed based to ensure reliability which is our corporate mission and equipped with EU Stage III B and US Tier Four interim emission control standards engine,” says a company spokesman.

“Hitachi Sumitomo cranes are at the forefront of their field and are designed to create ideal working conditions to suit any work site or requirement. The SCX1000A-3 has been added to the line-up with a 10-tonne greater lifting capacity over the SCX900A-2 as well as a host of powerful work capabilities. This drastically improves the base performance of the crane to provide peace of mind for any type of work,” the spokesman says.

The SCX1000A-3 ensures improved mobility, taking up only 2.99 m in width during transportation for efficiency and cost saving. The weight of the crane itself has been kept to under 30 tonnes with the lower boom. The assembly and disassembly time is reduced by the installation of hoisting cylinders on gantry.

The new brake system, which provides a better operating feel, and the new winch with 12-tonne rated line pull can cover almost any type of heavy or complex work from construction through to civil engineering works, says the spokesman.

According to him, the crane has also been designed so that it can be operated by anyone, without relying on the operator’s experience or skill.

Furthermore, the SCX1000A-3 incorporates a full range of safety features. A warning alarm, auto-drum lock and a range of other valuable functions have been included. “Safety has been covered in almost every conceivable way, with the use of a swing restriction device, swing brake pedal, and folding type upper house handrails,” the spokesman says.

The large display panel includes all required information at a glance in a functional, easy-to-view layout without hindering operator’s forward visibility.

Finally its clean engine and eco-friendly winch make it a machine attuned to today’s market demands. It is equipped with a new-generation clean engine that complies with EU Stage III B and US Tier Four interim emission control standards. An auto-idle stop function and environment-friendly winches design also help to improve economical operation. The powerful winch not only makes lifting easier but also provides superior strength when lowering loads, where precise control is essential.
