Terex introduces star performers

The operator’s cab ... designed to boost productivity.

TEREX Cranes has unveiled the Quadstar 1075L, a rough-terrain crane with a maximum 75-tonne lift capacity that meets the needs of contractors who require lift capacities beyond the 60-tonne capacity class.

“Our customers are demanding a higher capacity crane in the 75-tonne range, which Terex delivers with the new Quadstar 1075L,” says Marco Gentilini, vice-president and general manager, Terex Cranes Italy.

“Besides longer reach and increased capacities, this new crane features an advanced hydraulic system and is the first rough terrain manufactured in Crespellano (in the Province of Bologna in the Italian region Emilia-Romagna) which features the new cab.”

Terex Quadstar 1075L’s new hydraulic system provides efficiency and reliability, as the electrohydraulic controls improve the operator-machine interface to deliver precise control over crane movements.

“The system offers smooth simultaneous operation of multiple crane functions, including lifting and slewing, without sacrificing performance,” adds Gentilini.

A variable displacement pump supplies oil flow to components only when required, saving wear and tear on the hydraulic system and improving overall fuel economy.

“The Quadstar 1075L combines excellent lifting capacities with compact dimensions for easy transportation and good jobsite manoeuvrability,” states Christian Kassner, Terex Cranes’ regional sales manager for the Middle East.

“It is the perfect match for the oil and gas sector, where narrow jobsites are everyday business. The machine is EN 13000 compliant and therefore fulfills the high safety standards at these jobsites,” he adds.

Drawing on decades of experience, the new Quadstar 1075L boasts a 41.8-m telescoping boom and a main boom with a maximum tip height of 45 m. It offers a maximum 75-tonne rated capacity at a 3-m work radius and 11 m boom length. The flexible boom design accommodates an 8-m, 20-degree offsettable jib, stowed on the side of the main boom for quick installation. The crane’s reach and versatility is extended with the available 14 and 20 m jib designs featuring 20-degree angle offset capabilities.

The Quadstar 1075L features the latest Terex operator’s cab, designed to boost productivity and comfort. Built around operator feedback, this functional cab repositions the electronics compartment to offer longer inside dimensions and provide more space for operators. Moreover, an infinitely variable tilt-up operator cab of up to 18 degrees delivers improved vision of the work area. A redesigned air-conditioning and heating system with individual air outlets maintain comfortable operating temperatures. An ergonomic, multi-adjustable seat with lumbar support and head and arm rests helps to improve operator comfort and productivity.

The Terex Quadstar comes standard with a rated capacity limiter and control system, which offers intuitive operation and information. The system allows operators to configure speed of movements, adjust control sensitivity and customise joystick control layout. These settings can be saved to match different operators. The system has all load charts stored and offers real-time information about engine and crane status.

This rough-terrain crane’s six-speed powershift transmission automatically engages four-wheel drive in low-speed range to improve traction. The Quadstar 1075L offers a maximum speed of 29 kmph, depending on tyres, and exceptional grade ability, so it quickly and efficiently navigates even the most challenging terrain, Kassner states. Three steering modes – front only, all-wheel concentric or all-wheel crab – work to deliver a tight turning radius, so it nimbly navigates congested work areas.

Controlled from inside the operator’s cab, four independent hydraulic outriggers offer a stable platform for crane operation. The adaptable outriggers provide the option of three operating positions – fully retracted, partially extended or fully extended – to meet lifting needs and space requirements. “With its standard 8.9-tonne upper structure counterweight and stable platform, the Terex Quadstar 1075L rough-terrain crane delivers solid performance throughout its entire lift range,” he adds.
