KEEPING odours at bay and ensuring the indoor air quality in some of the key areas that typically pose challenges in hospitality projects was the remit of Bio-Oxygen Middle East on the JW Marriott Marquis Dubai.
The Dubai-based specialist in odour control, air sterilisation and air purification was responsible for treating the air in all dining rooms and the exhaust air from all the kitchens at the project. Other areas being treated by the company also include the gym and garbage room.
Bio-Oxygen Middle East completed work on the project in July, having supplied a total of 200 Bio-Oxygen units to the development.
“One of the biggest challenges of the project was to meet the deadline,” says Ranyae Fernandes, director of sales and marketing for Bio-Oxygen Middle East.
“We are very pleased to be part of this iconic development,” she says. “It was an honour for us from the Emirates Group to be the only odour control company involved with this prestigious project.”
Bio-Oxygen Middle East’s scope of works included odour treatment for kitchen exhaust, sewage odour and indoor air quality.
The company is part of the Bio-Oxygen Australia, which manufactures odour control systems for industrial and sewerage applications as well as smaller models to control toilet, garbage room and food odours.
“Our systems require no perfumes, disinfectants, catalysts, chlorine, chemicals or carbon filters and none is used. The odour control process only requires clean ambient air,” says a spokesman for the company.
Bio-Oxygen also designs and manufactures air sterilisers and air sterilisation equipment especially for the disinfection and air sterilisation of ducted air-conditioning systems. These units are installed inside the mixing plenum of an air-handling unit where they disinfect the supply air as it mixes and flows through the plenum. The air sterilisers thus disinfect the supply air and protect people from viruses and pathogens such as staphylococcus aureus (golden staph), legionella pneumophilia (Legionnaires’ disease), E coli, salmonella, salmonella abony and others.
“Our air sterilisers achieve up to 99 per cent overall air sterilisation,” the spokesman claims.
The Australia-based parent firm also manufactures a range of air purifiers, ionisers, air ionisers and ionic air purifiers. Some of the other projects executed by Bio-Oxygen Middle East in the UAE include the Dubai Mall, Emirates headquarters, Green Lakes Tower, Spinneys, the Emirates Palace hotel, Le Royal Meridien, Grosvenor House One and Two, Souk Al Bahar and projects for Dubai Municipality.
