Dar Al Zakhrafa manufactured, supplied and installed cast gypsum, gypsum plasterboard and 60x60 GRG (glass-reinforced gypsum) tiles at the Mazaya Centre. The job was worth Dh3.5 million ($954,000).

Established in Abu Dhabi in 1973, Dar Al Zakhrafa also opened an office in Dubai in 1978. The firm manufactures all types of ceiling works and drywall partitions, according to its general manager Safa Hassan. He says the company specialises in gypsum ceiling works (fibrous plaster) such as cornices, mouldings, painting and gold leafing. It also offers its own designs for gypsum works - both internal and external.

"All our products are custom-designed and manufactured at our facilities in Dubai and Abu Dhabi," says Hassan. "The products supplied to the Mazaya Centre were specially designed according to the owner's and the consultant Artec's requirements."

Over the years, the company has been involved with several projects for the Ruling family. It has installed interior decorated ceilings for mosques, palaces, villas and commercial buildings in the UAE.

Some of the major projects completed by Dar Al Zakhrafa include the Grand Mosque in Jumeirah and mosques in Rashidya and Zabeel. Other projects include the Ministry of Finance building; a majlis block for Abdullah Mohd Saleh; Ajman Kempinski Hotel and some jobs at the Dubai Inter-Continental.
