SAUDI Industrial and Technical Services Company (Sisco), the energy generation and handling solutions specialist, showcased its latest capabilities, technologies and solutions at the seventh Saudi International Water, Electricity and Power Generation Forum (WEPower 2011), held from May 14 to 16 the Dhahran International Exhibitions Centre in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.
The show was an opportunity to introduce market-leading products, services and capabilities from Sisco’s international partners, particularly in the renewable energy and green products fields, according to Raed Allahham, general manager, Al Mutlaq Projects Company, Sisco’s multi-disciplined parent company.
“Partnerships with international majors are a vital part of Sisco’s drive to build its supply chain capabilities and resources in Saudi Arabia,” Allahham told Gulf Construction during the show.
In February 2011, Sisco became the authorised dealer in Saudi Arabia for US solar thermal technology provider Sopogy, which is currently engaged on the world-class Masdar renewable energy project in Abu Dhabi.
“Energy and water provision is one of the biggest challenges facing Saudi Arabia in the next five years, and some $80 billion is being allocated in the kingdom for projects in this regard. Sisco’s alliance with Sopogy reflects our growing focus on renewable energy solutions, in particular solar energy. Given Sisco’s market credibility, track record and expertise, we are confident of being well placed to serve this expanding sector,” he added.
Among Sopogy solutions showcased at WEPower 2011 were innovative new scaleable air-conditioning units for commercial and industrial use, part of its MicroCSP technology range.
Also showcased on the Sisco stand were displacement pumps from Germany’s Zeilfelder Pumpen, for which Sisco has been the authorised agent in Saudi Arabia since last year.
Ing Cristian Bornstein, managing director, Zeilfelder Pumpen, said the company’s participation alongside Sisco at WEPower 2011 highlighted the local availability of high performance lobe and gear pumps manufactured to the highest European standards to precise customer specification and application requirements.
Bornstein said Zeilfelder was currently seeking approval to supply Saudi Aramco with pumps, following which it plans to conduct training sessions for engineers from the state oil company. Zeilfelder is also working towards becoming the first pump manufacturer to obtain API (American Petroleum Institute) approval, he said.
Also represented at WEPower 2011 were technologically-advanced, high fuel efficiency engineered boiler systems from Cleaver-Brooks of the US.
Allahham said Sisco was now planning to expand into Qatar and Abu Dhabi.
