Composite panels coated with Reynobond Architecture's Duragloss 5000 have been used for the project.

Aluminium composite panels coated with Reynobond Architecture’s Duragloss 5000 high-tech coating has been used in the construction of the iconic Children’s Museum, which occupies on a 20,000 sq m area in the Al Hussein National Park in Amman, Jordan.

This interactive education museum, which was designed specially for children inaugurated in May last year, was designed by Faris & Faris Architects, a renowned local architectural consulting firm, in collaboration with Tahhan & Bushnaq, another Jordanian firm which carried out the interiors designing works. Prior to creating their design works for museum, the architects first visited several of the world’s most famous children’s museums to study their architectural layout and operations before starting this unique project.
From a distance, the building resembles an open toy chest from where individual toys are spilling out. Three large building structural components in bright colours of red, green and blue – resembling oversized children’s Lego blocks – jut out from a semi-circular structure.
When it came time to clad the three-coloured blocks and the planetarium, the architects decided upon aluminium composite panels coated with Duragloss 5000.
“This kind of coating offers exceptional durability and resistance to extreme climatic and environmental factors while retaining outstanding colour, gloss and chalking characteristics. The red, blue and yellow colours used were developed based on the unique project specifications of the architects,” says a spokesman for France-based Alcoa Architectural Products, which manufactures Reynobond products.
The certifications and the simple processing methods offered by Reynobond, a brand of Architecture Aluminium Composite Material production line – an intrinsic part of Alcoa Architectural Products – were key factors for the architects to specify this product in the construction of the Children’s Museum project, he adds.
The museum's exterior design comprising of a playful mix of different shapes, angles and materials merges seamlessly into colourful interiors of floors, ceilings and walls adorned with more than 150 interactive installations on topics like science, culture and technology, created by Haley Sharpe Design, a world leader in this field. Besides the exhibition halls, the Amman Children's museum also houses a restaurant, a computer science centre, a multi-purpose hall, a library, rooms for activities, and a planetarium to cater to varied tastes of visitors of different age groups.
Operating out of Merxheim in France, the Architecture Aluminium Composite Material production line also manufactures Reynolux metal wall panels, flat sheet and coil. It is a leading production unit of the Alcoa Architectural Products, a business unit of Alcoa, the aluminium world leader.
