Atlantic Group, a leading French water heating specialist, has unveiled major plans for Egypt, which will involve the expansion of production lines and new factory premises.
Following the success attained by the company over the years, Atlantic has shifted its manufacturing unit to a 20,000 sq m facility, which will also feature 4,500 sq m of office space and employ up to 400 staff. The new €14 million ($20.73 million) facility includes a €7 million investment in machinery, and spreads over 70,000 sq m.
The expansion of its production capabilities will include the setting up of a new production line that will boost the company’s capacity to manufacture water heaters and also its total production capacity.
“The machinery required for the expansion has been sourced from Europe and will be set up to the company’s precise requirements and the processes it has developed over the years,” says a company spokesman.
The facility, which has been built in a record time of 12 months, is the company’s biggest site dedicated to water heaters in the Middle East and will enable Atlantic to produce 750,000 water heaters annually, with capacities ranging from 10 to 150 litres, extendable to 300 litres, says the spokesman.
The company has also announced plans to broaden its range of heaters and intends to manufacture middle and high power water boilers in the 60 kW to 500 kW range. Initially Atlantic will manufacture close to 2,000 boilers annually at the new facility.
Atlantic, a European leader in electric room heaters and water heaters has had its manufacturing presence in Egypt since 2005.
Last year, the company manufactured more than 300,000 water heaters ranging from 30 to 120 litres.
“The entire “made in Egypt” production has the CE (European Certificate) and NF (French Norms) approvals from the very start, thus guaranteeing the highest level of quality to the customers all over the world,” says the spokesman. “The unit also stands to benefit from the French management and engineering processes that have added to the high skills and motivation of the local workers made the success,” says the spokesman.
The Egyptian unit complements the company’s three existing factories in France and most of its products are being re-exported in Western and Eastern Europe, Russia, Middle East and Africa, he concludes.
