Armetal, a Saudi Arabian manufacturer of architectural stainless steel, has joined hands with Outokumpu, a global leader in stainless steel, to set up a stainless steel pipe production facility in Riyadh.
The Outokumpu Armetal Stainless Pipe, as the joint venture is known, will help expand Armetal’s range of stainless steel products by installing a state-of-the-art mill, with an annual capacity of 10,000 tonnes of stainless pipes of up to 6 inches. With its product range, it will be the only company of its kind in the fast growing market in the Middle East, and will further solidify its position with a planned expansion of its product range up to 24 inches, says a spokesman for Armetal.
“The Middle East is one of the fastest growing markets in the world with high potential in investments in the oil and gas, as well as desalination industries that require a multitude of stainless steel products,” says the spokesman. Outokumpu Armetal Stainless Pipe aims to meet the demand of these sectors through offering an array of stainless tubular products, he says.
The goal of Outokumpu Armetal Stainless Company is to focus on developing the process pipe business, and to become the preferred supplier in the region, he says. In the development process, the company will utilise the strength of being a part of both a strong local company Armetal, with knowledge of the local market, combined with the know-how and product range available from Outokumpu Stainless Tubular Products (OSTP).
