Owens Corning, a world leader in acoustical and building materials technology, has recently announced a collaborative agreement with Anutone Acoustics, India’s foremost acoustics technology company, to promote jointly-branded, architectural acoustic solutions throughout the GCC and SAARC regions.

The agreement, which combines Anutone’s extensive knowledge of acoustical sciences, the construction industry and regional markets with Owens Corning’s unsurpassed acoustic expertise and product range, will initially focus on development, promotion and distribution of Owens Corning acoustical systems for professional and public environments. These include offices, IT-enabled service spaces (ITES), hotels, convention centres and entertainment venues such as multiplex cinemas and sports stadiums.
Commenting on the announcement, Gary Nieman, vice president and managing director, building materials, Asia-Pacific, Owens Corning, said: “As a leader in building energy, acoustic and aesthetic solutions, Owens Corning has been active in the large and fast growing Asia Pacific building markets since the mid-1990s. Working with a well-known and respected regional leader in acoustics technology will now enable us to develop that part of our business within the Asian markets more fully.”
Outstanding acoustics and noise management is becoming an integral functionality of workplaces and leisure venues and is increasingly perceived as a design feature of world class buildings, rather than an afterthought. Bijoy Mohan, general manager, India and South East Asia, Owens Corning explains: “In a rapidly expanding economy, the growing numbers of consumers with larger disposable incomes are becoming more sophisticated in these matters.”
“High consumer expectations are also driving demand for energy efficient building products and advanced acoustical systems in offices, convention centres, hotels and other commercial buildings. Being able to reach into this market with a partner with Anutone’s expertise and experience is a very exciting prospect,” says Mohan.
Under the terms of the agreement, the globally recognised building material and acoustical solutions of Owens Corning will be linked with the high profile Anutone brand, which will bring building owners, architects and consultants state-of-the-art acoustical systems that are customised to the requirements of virtually any interior.
Extensively tested to meet the highest specifications, the jointly branded SoundSoft Respond acoustical wall and ceiling panels, the SoundStretch Eurospan wide span acoustical ceiling systems and the SoundSmart QuietZone noise isolation systems will lead this new portfolio of technically advanced solutions. They will also complement and significantly extend the aesthetic choices available to the region’s construction industry, with a wide variety of outstanding surface finishes, fabrics, designs and mountings.
Reflecting the extent of the collaboration, Owens Corning will use its global reach to explore the business potential for Anutone’s innovative, rugged acoustical products and systems in key markets outside the SAARC and GCC areas.
