A massive twin development for the BD250 million ($663 million) Bahrain City Centre has won the go-ahead from the Manama Municipal Council.
To be built on a 211,023 sq m plot, the project would be linked to its twin by a bridge and includes offices, shops, furnished apartments, flats and a huge hotel, according to the developer MAF Shopping Malls.
Technical committee chairman Abdulmajeed Al Sebea’a said the council gave the project the go-ahead because of the investment potential. “We are speaking here about a major investment worth tens of millions of dinars and who are we to turn our backs on it,” he said. “It is true that we haven’t finalised the entrance and exit routes with those behind the project, but I believe they will be all right, since the Seef District is not that congested at the moment.”
