
The Towers and Galvanising (T&G) Business Unit of Zamil Steel has signed its single-largest contract ever with Saudi Services For Electro Mechanical Works Company (SSEM), valued at SR74.5 million ($19.9 million).
Under the scope of this contract, Zamil Steel will manufacture and supply 550 towers, with an average height of 65 m, to Saudi Electricity Company - Eastern Regional Branch (SEC-ERB), to supply 380 kV double-circuit overhead transmission line from Fadhili sub-station to Shamlul sub-station in the Northern Eastern Province, between the cities of Saffaniyah and Nuairiyah.
“We have started fabrication to commence delivery of the 550 towers from December over a 15-month period until March 2007. We have executed a great number of infrastructure projects for SEC throughout the kingdom,” said Saleh Al Zamil, vice president, T&G, Zamil Steel.
“We have earned a good reputation with the Saudi Electricity Company from past performance. Zamil Steel has developed vast manufacturing capabilities and unique expertise in handling giant projects. We have recently added advanced machinery and equipment to increase our production capacity to meet the huge development in the kingdom’s power transmission network,” concluded Adnan Abdulrahman Al Mansour, executive vice president, Zamil Steel.
