International Turkeybuild 2006 Istanbul Fair – the 29th in the series of construction exhibitions – is set to open its doors next May to an anticipated 90,000 visitors who can see the products and services of more than 800 local and international firms.
Organised by The Building Information Centre, the event will take place from May 3 to 7 over a 60,000 sq m area in 10 halls at the Tuyap Fair and Congress Centre, Beylikduzu/Istanbul. Companies will be grouped according to the category of their products.
Last year’s event attracted 670 exhibitors from 37 countries and hosted 79,092 visitors.
Turkeybuild 2005, which is an UFI-approved event, will host building technologies and a wide range of building materials produced by Turkish and foreign companies.
The Building Information Centre will be organising supporting activities such as seminars, exhibitions, and panel discussions during the event. In addition, the organiser will award a Turkish building materials producer with Altin Cekul (Golden Plummet) Award - which was first instituted in 1991 – for excellent performance and exhibitors can also compete for the Best Stand Design Awards and The Building Information Centre Special Awards” within the fair.
“The building sector is one of the leading sectors in the Turkish economy with its links to around 150 different economic spheres,” says a spokesman for the organiser. “This sector is exceptionally dynamic with its dependence on home industry to a large extent, its creation of a high rate of added value, the size of its employment potential, its close relationship as a manufacturing industry with other sectors and its current earning potential through its work abroad. Building sector investments are allocated to residential (55 per cent) and infrastructure (30 per cent) and others. “The construction materials industry, which accounts for 10 per cent of the industrial activity is the third largest after food and textile.”
First organised in 1978, Turkeybuild Istanbul Fair has become the most outstanding event in the Turkish building sector and a gathering point for professionals and producers, the spokesman says.
“Throughout the past 28 years, Turkeybuild Istanbul Fair, has proved to its ever-increasing number of visitors and exhibitors that it is the most efficient way to exhibit the products and services,” he concludes.
