Wavin.. low-noise system.

Thomsun Electrical and Plumbing Division supplied a low-noise drainage pipe system from Wavin of Germany for the entire Shangri-La project, including the car-park building.

The company is among 17 divisions of Dubai-based Thomsun Electronics Centre, which has been active in the market for 23 years.
Describing the product EC Sredhar Babu, sales manager with the company says: "Wavin is a complete low-noise soil and waste system made of Astolan and is the plastic alternative to acoustic insulation wrapping on PVC.
"Astolan is a minerally-reinforced polypropylene. Due to its high specific weight and its special molecular structure, Astolan is able to absorb airborne as well as structure-borne sound. The product reduces the noise level to 25 dB. This has been confirmed by noise measurements at the Frauenhofer Institute for Building Physics, Stuttgart, Germany.
The pipes are manufactured in a range of sizes from 50 mm to 200 mm diameter and are complemented by a full range of Astolan fittings.
The system offers flexibility of an extensive choice, excellent quality and reliability.  Its density is 1.9 g/cu cm, fire resistance conforms to DIN 4102, B2 classification.
Compared to acoustic insulation wrapping on PVC, Wavin is quick and easy to install, because of its R/R socket connections. The product is also resistant to hot water and fulfills the requirements of DIN 1986, which means 95 degree C short term and 90 degree C long term temperature loading. Wavin AS can be used for the drainage of wastewater between pH 2 and pH 12.
The system is designed for professional wastewater installations in buildings. It can be used for roof, estate and bridge drainage.
Wavin is lightweight thus easy to handle. Installation is quick and easy, as it comes with push fit systems.
The product is also extremely robust, resistant to corrosion, internally very smooth and free of incrustations and has a life span of 50 years. It is approved for underground installation.
Thomsun is the sole representative for the product in the UAE and Qatar. The company has an office in Doha - Thomsun Electromechanical Engineers. It launched the product in Dubai and Northern Emirates three years ago and has received tremendous response from consultants.
The product is used above the false ceilings where there is a need to reduce noise in the floor. The company has supplied the product to Emaar projects, PWD projects, Traders Hotel in Dubai and several villa and residential projects in Sharjah.
Currently the company is in the process of launching the product in Abu Dhabi. It is holding a joint seminar with Wavin in Abu Dhabi  early September.
In Germany more than 70 per cent buildings have used this product. Thomsun has a 5,000 sq ft warehouse in Sharjah from where it supplies to all the emirates.
