The screens adorn the tops of four towers.

The cast aluminium screens that adorn and render a distinctive appearance to some of six towers in Dubai Marina Phase 1 are the handiwork of Alba Tower Aluminium Factory.

"Our job at Dubai Marina - Phase 1 was to design, fabricate, supply and install cast aluminium screens at the top of four of the towers in the North and South Sections (Towers N2, N3, S2 and S3)," says a spokesman for the Sharjah-based cast aluminium fabrication specialist.
Also included in its scope of works were associated miscellaneous jobs such as aluminium louvres for Tower N2 and the  fitness centre, aluminium trellis, aluminium louvered doors and panels for the substation, ramps and the perimeter boundary wall.
"Our work at the Marina site was a challenge as it involved fabricating and installing screens which were required to be installed on top of the towers.  It needed meticulous attention to detail and top quality, as well as good coordination with the other trades on site to ensure the smooth running of the project," he says.
Elaborating on other challenges on the project, the spokesman says: "Furthermore, all screens for Tower N2 were required to be changed to extruded aluminium heavy-duty solid sections incorporating structural elements to enable them to tolerate the anticipated loads - especially wind loads. We were able to deliver the highest quality using this option, to the satisfaction of the client and the consultant.
"For Tower N3, a special design was selected to enable the screen to withstand the loads and meet the consultant's requirements.  An aluminium sheet - cut using our advanced CNC router machine - was used for the main face.  This was supported at the rear by a solid aluminium design element. Using this technique, we have been able to attain the utmost quality that can be achieved in cast aluminium fabrication, exceeding the consultant's specifications.
"All other work - such as the special aluminium louvres for the fitness centre and the trellis - was extruded after submitting designs for the approval of the consultants and using the best quality of materials."
"We are well satisfied with what we have accomplished at this site," he comments. "As far as fabrication standards and quality are concerned, we have met the highest specifications in the region - which makes us well-placed to meet similar challenges on other projects."
Alba Tower Aluminium Factory is one of the reputed organisations in the UAE and is actively involved in small and large industries. The company, which started operations in the UAE in 1991, has gone from strength to strength purely on its commitment to serve clients with quality products and services, he says.
It draws on its vast knowledge and resources to design, engrave, route, fabricate and install cast aluminum products such as gates (ranging from swing and sliding gates to gate barriers), fencing, grilles, doors, handrails and screens. The company has recently expanded its production range to include exterior lighting systems.
"The company's success can be attributed to the strict quality control and assurance procedures maintained by our staff, their efficiency and compliance to international specifications," says the spokesman.
"We are the only cast aluminium manufacturer in the UAE equipped with CNC (computerised numerical control) engraving (routing) facilities, which allow us to achieve a high standard of precision works," he adds.
Its factories at Al Qusais in Dubai and the Industrial area in Sharjah have expanded in line with the growth in business. The operation is supported by qualified technical staff, engineers, and highly skilled and motivated personnel.
