Prefab Building Industries Company (PBI), one of the leading subcontracting companies specialising in all kinds of false ceilings, composite aluminium cladding, GRG (glass-reinforced gypsum), GRC (glass-reinforced concrete) and GRP (glass-reinforced plastic) works, is responsible for the false ceiling and decorative GRG works at the Dubai Marina project.
This prestigious project is one among PBI's 32 ongoing projects. Other current projects include Emirates Aviation Training Centre, Higher College of Technology, Economic Building, Sharjah, 276 villas in Al Ain, Sharjah Archives building, Madinat Jumeirah Resort Phase-II and Arabian Ranches.
The Dubai-based company has been successfully involved in a number of projects in Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Ajman, having executed decorative works in most of the landmark projects in Dubai and numerous towers, hotels and villas, says a senior official of the company.
At the Dubai Marina Phase 1, a total of 88,000 sq m of gypsum ceiling works - including an array of decorative features such as GRG domes, friezes, cornice and light coves - adorn the Al Mass Tower, Al Yass Tower and 64 luxury villas on the podium.
PBI is executing the false ceiling and decorative gypsum works for Nasa Multiplex/Al Futtaim Tarmac JV, the main contractor on the Dubai Marina project.
"A dedicated force of 250 workers and 12 engineers and supervisors toiled round the clock towards the successful completion of this project," says the official. "We are proud to be associated with this development.
"Completing this prestigious project with all its challenges was very fulfilling - an achievement that would not have been possible without the support and excellent efforts of all the concerned PBI staff."
The company, established in 1985 with a team of 20 specialised craftsmen, has grown into a dynamic multi-activity unit with a workforce of nearly 800 personnel under an efficient management.

"As we have our own manufacturing facilities for gypsum tiles and metal profiles, in addition to trading of import materials like British plaster boards and suspension systems among others, we are in a position to provide the complete range of products in ceiling and partitions to our customers," he explains.
Recent projects by PBI include Dubai Media City, Dubai International Airport, Dubai Internet City, Dubai Airport Free Zone Authority (Dafza) office building, Sharjah Mega Mall, Shaikh Khalifa Medical Centre (SKMC) in Abu Dhabi, Grand Hyatt, The Tower on Sheikh Zayed Road, and an 800 Apartment complex for Juma Al Majid.
