Landscape architect Green3D reports that its first year in the Gulf has been highly successful. Following the good response it received at the Big 5, Hotel Show and Cityscape, the company formed an alliance with Dubai multi-disciplinary practice PHB.
Director Ronnie Scott says: "We have had a warm welcome in the Gulf and our particular expertise in leisure and urban design issues have proven very popular in Dubai and the Middle East."
The company's first large commissions are a Dh18 million ($3.9 million) refurbishment of the Sharjah Women's Club and several high-profile commercial projects in Dubai.
Running in tandem with these projects, the company has put forward radical proposals for eco-friendly islands in the region, which balance the cultural and commercial aspects of leisure together with the utilisation of natural energy and ecology.
Scott comments: "This is the future and the Gulf is in a unique position to show the way forward. Many governments are taking great interest in what we have to say and we expect an announcement on a significant project in the near future."
Working closely with the multi-disciplinary team of architects, engineers and mechanical engineers of PHB, Green3D sees an exciting future ahead in the governmental and commercial sectors where landscaping is becoming a 'must have' element in the development mix.
