A totaL of 10 Liebherr tower cranes are currently operating on the Al Murooj Complex, a Dh350 million ($95.4 million) multi-purpose development in Dubai.
The project involves the construction of a complex of eight towers of 12-storeys each, combined in four groups and connected at the basement, ground and mezzanine floors with a total built-up area of 200,000-sq m.
Once complete, it will house 612 luxury apartments, penthouses, shops, restaurants, offices, swimming pools and a 248-room hotel. The complex will also include the city's only floating food-court, offering 3,000 sq m of space for 240 diners, constructed over an artificial lake.
The four-star hotel, with a built-up area of 40,000 sq m, will have a large banquet hall for 1,000 guests, a departmental store over a total area of 4,200 sq m, open terraces and a garden, underground parking and restaurants.
The complex, located northeast of the defence roundabout near Sheikh Zayed Road, will also house a mini-golf course for occupants. It will also have water cascades running through.
Main contractor Al Ahmadia Contracting Company is currently utilising the Liebherr tower cranes for all formwork lifting duties and the delivery of concrete via seven cu m buckets. The project has one of the largest single populations of Liebherr tower cranes in the region and includes three 255HCs, five 280EC-Hs and two 290HC units.
Two of the Liebherr tower cranes - a 280EC-H and a 290HC - are newly-delivered used cranes from Liebherr's local dealer INMA.
The Liebherr tower cranes are all working with jib lengths of between 50 and 70 m, and hook heights of between 40 and 52 m. All of the Liebherr units have a maximum lifting capacity of 12 tonnes at 20 m.
