Consort Architectural Hardware, which has been active in the Middle East for more than five decades, says it is one of the most competitive suppliers of architectural hardware throughout the region.

The UK-based company set up an office and warehouse in Dubai in March 2001 to enable it to better serve the Gulf region.

Several items from the various Consort ranges have been used on many of the large and prestigious projects that have been constructed in Dubai over the last few years including the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Emirates Towers, Grand Hyatt Dubai, Dubai Marina and the Convention Centre, to name a few.

Commenting on the reason behind setting up a presence in the Gulf, a spokesman for the company says: "Because of the expansion of business over the last few years, and the planned growth in all sectors of Dubai's economy over the coming years, it was felt that it was imperative that Consort set up a base in the area. Consequently, a decision was taken to invest in the region to directly handle Consort's sales from within the Middle East.

"Office premises and warehouse were taken at Al Qasr, Dubai, and large stocks were put in place to service the needs of the construction industry for architectural hardware in the region.

"All components that make up the hardware package, such as hinges, handles, door controls and accessories, are kept in stock at the Dubai warehouse and are despatched daily to all parts of the Gulf.

"This move has resulted in large cost savings to the customers, and has led to the lead time in delivery being shortened for many goods, which would have had to come from Europe, and the Far East, now being available ex-stock in Dubai."

In addition, a totally new range of competitive stainless steel hardware was designed and put together last year with the local market as the target.

"The Amira Suite offers the architectural profession a complete range of hardware in stainless steel, with more than 30 designs of lever handles alone. It is very competitively priced and can be specified with confidence in the knowledge that excellent value for money is guaranteed," he points out.

Consort works with architects and consultants at the specification stage, and with specialist suppliers of architectural hardware at the contract stage, according to the spokesman.

A full estimating and scheduling service is available to clients and consultants at no charge, and competitive quotations can be prepared in conjunction with approved specialist suppliers.

In addition to the door furniture and accessories, Consort has available from one of its associate companies, a range of master-keyed lock cylinders, offering virtually unlimited differs, that can be designed to cater for the most complicated master keyed systems, the spokesman says. These cylinders are manufactured by qualified and experienced locksmiths, at its factory in Willenhall in the UK. Individual plans are prepared that enable extensions to be incorporated at later dates, and a copy of the plan is given to the client whose property it becomes.
