Laticrete installation systems were recently chosen for an impressive monument in honour of the President of the UAE, HH Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Ruler of Abu Dhabi. The Al Ain Municipality of the UAE created this monument to commemorate the President's safe return from the US after successful surgery.

"Erected on the highway between Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, this monument features an extraordinary mosaic tile design of the President's face, which sits on top of an earthenware clay mural featuring the President's royal castle,'' says Alec Hedley, Laticrete's regional manager for the Middle East. ''This 213 sq ft wide and 23 sq ft tall monument rests on a large granite podium, representing stability and longevity, and was designed in 16 days and installed in only 14 days.

''This monument is located on the desert highway where temperatures can reach 50 deg C. Therefore, the installation systems used to install the ceramic tile have to withstand some of the harshest conditions in the region. Laticrete installation systems were the perfect choice."

Craig Bragdy Design Limited of the UK, the manufacturer of the monument, selected Laticrete's full installation system, consisting of Laticrete 4237 latex thin-Set mortar admix mixed with Laticrete 211 Crete filler powder and grouted with Laticrete 3701 latex mortar additive mixed with Laticrete Sanded Grout.
