Dubai Municipality has launched a feasibility study into the development of a mega leisure park in the Zabeel area near the Dubai World Trade Centre.

The study was announced by Dubai Municipality director general Qassim Sultan when he opened the recent Theme Parks and Fun Centres (TPFC) trade show at the trade centre.

'In addition, within the next year, we will open four new neighbourhood parks and are working towards staging the official opening of the new Dh80 million ($21.7 million) Children's City in the Creek Park during next year's Dubai Shopping Festival,' said Sultan.

TPFC featured exhibitors from 26 countries and an official British pavilion.

'Exhibiting at this show are companies from Argentina, South Africa, China and Sweden. Show organisers are expanding the reach of their exhibitor profile which is opening up new horizons for Dubai and spreading news of the emirate further,' he added.

TPFC, which is organised by International Expo-Consults (IEC), part of the Falaknaz Group, is a showcase for the latest international developments in the leisure sector and this year featured the Snow X-treme, real snow-making product.

TPFC 2001, which had the official support of international trade associations from the US, was the largest in the show's six-year history taking up some 3,100 sq m - 600 sq m more than last year.
