SOME of Bahrain’s most neglected areas could be in line for a major revamp after plans were announced to spend BD80 million ($210.9 million) to develop 10 villages.
Two from each of the country’s five governorates have been selected based on which ones that most need improvement. They include Naim, Galali, Ma’ameer, Karranah and Zallaq.
Municipalities and Urban Planning Affairs Minister Dr Juma Al Ka’abi said plans had already been drawn up for all the 10 villages.
Plans for the villages would be individual to the area and would include widening the roads, building new car-parks, public parks and health centres.
Meanwhile, the ministry said that work on BD24 million ($63.6 million) worth of projects is under various stages of construction.
